March 2020 Challenge - Courage

The past few months have been what not a lot of people expected. Closure of schools (in some countries), lockdowns, social distancing of 1 metre, quarantine, stay at home notices, etc. and all thanks to this global pandemic called the Coronavirus, or CoVid-19.

And so since the theme for this month is Courage, and the challenge is to:
'Find a Charity to volunteer at for a day or make a donation'

I've decided to make the challenge in conjunction with helping out during this difficult time - by either volunteering to give out hand sanitisers at Community Centres, or donate needed items in kind such as anti-bacterial wipes, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, etc. or give a word of appreciation to our frontline heroes who are doing their best to help us all, working hard in the hospitals, clinics and attending to all patients with CoVid-19 or not.

So here are some of the things that Singaporeans could help out with:

February 2020 Challenge - Caring & Sharing Compassion

So February's 2020 Challenge theme is Caring & Sharing Compassion. And the challenge was to "Write down 5 acts of kindness you can do each week". Here are three acts of kindness that I shared on Instagram:

1. The easiest one of all:

2. The one that requires a little more effort:

3. And the one that most people forget to do (myself included, sometimes):

While these are only three, I'm sure there are a lot more acts of kindness that you can do every week, or maybe even every day. Like helping out a friend, or calling someone to check in on them, or send a note of appreciation to a loved one, etc. It's free, it's easy and it makes your day so much better.

Let me know in the comments if you've done any of the above acts of kindness lately, and if you didn't, what act of kindness did you do?

Till next time...

January 2020 Challenge - Self Care

January 2020's Kindness Challenge was to write something positive about yourself everyday. I thought it was a doable challenge but boy oh boy, was I wrong. This was really a challenge - cause there are days that you are just too busy, or are just not loving yourself that much and I totally understand. I did try to do this challenge everyday - but unfortunately, I didn't. Although I did manage to think of some postive things about myself that I could share with you.

Here is one of the positive things about myself:
I like my handwriting.

I get complimented about it a lot and I used to think that nah, it’s all right. But I’m really starting to like it. Even more now that I’ve actually started writing in a journal! Yup. Old school is still the way. And I LOVE to watch videos of those whose penmanship are just so GORGEOUS.

LIKE HOW DO THEY DO IT WITH SUCH CONTROL?!

I've tried and failed to do calligraphy like this. Mainly because I don't have the patience for it. Hehe.

Another positive thing about myself:
my smallness.

I’m generally known to be short (ranging between 156 - 158cm), can’t remember. Not important anyways, hehe. 🤭 So my hands and feet are small too! iPhone 7 is the best phone ever cause I can hold it in one hand and type at the same time (I still have stretch my thumb a bit). And my shoe size makes it easy for me to buy shoes! Hehe.

One last positive thing I’d like to share about myself is:
how organised I am.

Things are in their place, and there is a place for everything, etc. I’m like Monica (from FRIENDS) but not that extreme. But being organised is what keeps me calm, allows me to do things in a faster and more efficient manner, and it definitely helps me think clearer. This is truly one part of me that makes me smile, and is a positive thing to me. Others find joy in messes, and others don’t.

Although this challenge really focus on yourself - some may use it to compare themselves to others. Please don't! Then this challenge really fails to focus on what is most important... Yourself. Focus on the good things about yourself, what you like about yourself and don't bother about what others may say. As long as it makes you happy, that's what matters.

Those who mind, don't matter.
Those who matter, won't mind.

Remember that.

2020 Kindness Calendar

Last year, I made 2020 Kindness Calendars.
It's a lot different from the 2019 Kindness Calendars.

2019 Kindness Calendars included:
✅ Kindness quotes
✅ Pretty patterns
...that was it!

After receiving some feedback from family members and gathering inspiration from Pinterest, from RAK Foundation (this website is my ROCK!) and some other RAKtivists, I decided to design it in a similar way but adding different components. So...

2020 Kindness Calendars includes:
💖Kindness quotes
💖Pretty patterns
💖Important dates in Singapore
💖Project for the Soul's birthday!
💖World Kindness Day!
💖12 different monthly themes
💖And the best part: Monthly Kindness Challenge!💖

January's theme is all about Self-Care.

Self-care covers a lot like having a massage, taking a walk on your own, reading a book, or having some me-time, etc. So it's all right to take care of yourself first, so that you can better take care of others.

So in tune with this month's theme, the challenge is:
Write one positive thing about yourself everyday.

Sounds challenging? I bet! It's always so difficult to see the good in yourself, and a lot easier to see the bad. But you have to really try. Love your short/long/frizzy/curly/straight/no hair? Write it down! Like how you’re able to roll your tongue or cross your eyes? Note it down. Love that mark on your face cause it makes you look different? Pen it! Cause why not?! These are the little things that make you, YOU! At the end of the month, you can look back the list, smile and feel good about yourself. Your future self will thank you for it.

So I'll be doing the challenge along with you. At the end of this month, I'll share some positive things about myself.

Till next time...
