Children's Day ParTea

It was our second collaboration for a Children's Day giveaway, and we were thinking hard on how do we engage our followers better and invite them to participate in the giveaway. So instead of sharing posts, we asked that they leave comments on why their child should win the giveaway.

And instead of the normal resources and gifts that we give that child, we decided to do a party! A tea party! Or as we call it, Children's Day ParTea!

It will be conducted by the wonderful ladies from @theresourcecampus and myself. So the ladies will conduct a story-telling on The Tiger Who Came to Tea (how fitting right?). And then followed by some games, cause it is a PARTY right? And some activities hosted by me.

This would be the first time that I'm directly engaging children in an event. Even when I did Ramadhan Kindness Project, I only showed the children on what to do with the items that they received. But this time, I actually re-created the materials and the lesson plans which I got from RAK Foundation, then carried out the activity with them!

We did the Respect Rainbow - where each child is given only one colour pencil and has to colour the entire rainbow in 7 different colours. So this enforces each child to be respectful, either to wait for their turn or ask the other person nicely if they could borrow that colour once they are done. It was a really fun activity!

Second activity was Tea Time - sounds simple right? It actually involved the child in placing items on a placemat e.g. cups, plates, forks, spoons, etc. The children learn to help ready the 'table' for tea time, about table manners and responsibility. It was really interesting to see how the children did their part in putting each item onto the placemat for everybody.

And of course, the actual tea time! After all the reading, and the playing, and the learning... It's time to fill the tummies. We had good food and good company. Although we would have wished for more participants, but the event went smoothly.

It would be great if we could do it again, next year. Hehe! Am really glad to have worked with Linda & Erma from @theresourcecampus and I hope to work with them again.
