March 2020 Challenge - Courage

The past few months have been what not a lot of people expected. Closure of schools (in some countries), lockdowns, social distancing of 1 metre, quarantine, stay at home notices, etc. and all thanks to this global pandemic called the Coronavirus, or CoVid-19.

And so since the theme for this month is Courage, and the challenge is to:
'Find a Charity to volunteer at for a day or make a donation'

I've decided to make the challenge in conjunction with helping out during this difficult time - by either volunteering to give out hand sanitisers at Community Centres, or donate needed items in kind such as anti-bacterial wipes, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, etc. or give a word of appreciation to our frontline heroes who are doing their best to help us all, working hard in the hospitals, clinics and attending to all patients with CoVid-19 or not.

So here are some of the things that Singaporeans could help out with:

So with the current #covid_19 situation happening worldwide, this is what you can do in your own country- find your local charities that needs volunteers for their various programmes. Fellow Singaporeans can check out @giving.sg’s website. They have programmes where you can volunteer at community clubs/centres to show appreciation for frontline workers, project #byob clean where you can help citizens collect their free hand sanitizers, etc.

If you are not able to volunteer, another way to contribute within your own society is to find charities that requires donations in kind. What does that mean? It means donating of items needed by various organisations. In Singapore, there are different organisations listed on @cityofgoodsg’s website that requires items such as anti-bacterial wipes, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, etc. If you stocked up and have extras (😜), why not give it to those in need?

Another way to contribute your part during the #covid_19 pandemic, is to show your support and appreciation through various means. . On @our_sg’s website, you can send a kind word to our frontline heroes at the various locations listed on their page. Or you can visit the websites that they have shared where you can submit a tribute to Singapore’s coronavirus fighters or share words of appreciation to the heroes you encounter, etc. It doesn’t cost anything and it can definitely go a long way. . Especially during such difficult times, when we start to show the worst in ourselves, or the best. Choose the latter. ♥️
