Our second year running, alhamdulillah.
Ain (from @thebambinisg) and I started planning this year's Ramadhan Kindness Project a few months ahead of time - taking into consideration the starting date of Ramadhan, the ample time needed to execute the plan and the resources we needed.
It was an overwhelming success - with overflowing amount of donated items coming from so many generous souls, to the mummies and kiddos helping to pack the Ramadhan Care Kits, and to the help we received bringing the kits to the folks at Jamiyah Home for the Aged.
We also had Sis Aneesa (from @kidzparadize) on board with us - she had a charity sale of 20% discount off all her items, with 15% of the sales to be donated to Jamiyah Home for the Aged.
And the day of the playdate itself came around... We had started out with only session in mind. But we did a vote and decided to extend to TWO sessions instead. During each session, we had storytelling by Teacher Ain (from @thebambinisg), then the children made Hari Raya cards for the elderly at Jamiyah Home for the Aged and lastly, packing of the Ramadhan Care Kits. Whilst it was slightly chaotic, it was an organised yet fun chaos, nonetheless. The children definitely had fun during both sessions. (I know I did!)
Then the biggest logistics part of the project was to bring everything from Sengkang to the Jamiyah Home for the Aged, which was located in Tampines. Thankfully, it's not too far. And we also had a friend who volunteered her vehicle (despite her children being unwell at that time). And with that, we managed to deliver all 125 kits to the Home, and then additional packs of other times that were not included in the Ramadhan Care Kits. Alhamdulillah.
It was so heartwarming to see different people coming together to give for the less fortunate and especially for the holy month of Ramadhan. Am really so grateful for everyone's support and generosity which made this possible. Here's to another year of Ramadhan Kindness Project, insya'Allah. I'm excited already, just thinking of it. Hehe!
Till the next time,
